  1. Hi, Again.

Windows XP Home, Adobe Premiere Pro, and a consumer Sony VHS deck. I want to export my DV to analog video, hence the Sony VHS deck. I have it hooked up now to a Pinnacle Movie Box, which allows me to import video to the computer. However, for some reason, it won't export to videotape. Premiere tells me it is doing so, and even tells me export of video was successful.... but it's not. There's nothing on the tape.

I have my firewire going to the input of the MovieBox. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Do you have it set up as a DV pass-through or are you actually capturing to MPEG-2?

    Hi..

Are you connecting to your VCR via composite cables?

    Shot in the dark but...

If you are using the composite connections, and your VCR has two sets of A/V IN ports (ie. one set at the front and one set at the back of the machine), make sure your VCR is set to Video1 or Video2, depending on which set you are actually using. For example, if you are connected to the front the VCR may be "looking" at the back ports or vice versa.

  4. It's been a while since I swapped my Movie Box for an ADVC-100 but if I remember correctly (though I wouldn't bet any body parts on it) the port on the Movie Box that the manual tells you to connect your PC to was only an OUT, not IN. Try using the other firewire port.

Do you have a TV out on your PC? If so, why don't you use that? You'll be recording on VHS. There's no advantage in exporting DV. The Movie Box will convert the DV to analog so at the end it's the same.

  5. Try turning your tv & vcr on BEFORE you turn on the computer, then see if the video is coming through by looking at your tv.
