  2. I had this problem last week. It turned out to be a problem with the Hard drive, accessing data. I ran chdisk and came up with mulitple bad clusters. In my case the chdisk also took about 8 hours, which I knew was a bad sign. My plan was to use Partition Magic and segregate the bad clusters, but this program recognized the hard drive as being faulty.

I bought a new hard drive and the problem went away. Not sure if this is your case, but hope it helps.

Yup, that's true. It's your HDD. Had (have) the same problem too. I guess I simply wasn't dealing with files that big until I got my DVD writer...

  4. CRE's can also be caused by damaged/scratched/dirty/etc discs.. i was going to backup my Gameshark Code & Save transfer cd (i dont cheat, i just like to have updated rosters) and i got a cyclic redundancy error.. luckily the file it had trouble reading was just a dummy file.. i copied the other files, made my own dummy file and burned the disc.. checked to make sure it would boot without modding the lba. it all went good..

your only real recourse against CRE (as long as it not HDD based) is to try to clean/repair the disc.

Well, you don't have any specs listed for your computer, but if you're running 2000 or XP just go into my computer, right click on the drive and click properties. Go to the tools tab and click check the "Check Now" button for checking disks for errors. You'll need to turn off your antivirus prior to doing this or else it will start over a lot.

Doesn't have to be a scratched disc to get that error either. Could just be a bad/cheap disc.

  8. it's a media problem, you could try to rescue your disc with one soft that rescues discs (such as data rescue )

It definately is a media problem. I've had this several times with cheap media. I managed to save a few with DVDX Rescue but other than that, I had to toss the rest

  11. Hey Jimmy,

    I also have a NEC-1330a.

Just wandering, whats the media you are burning with? DVD-r or DVD+r? Im having some trouble with burning DVD-R at 4x, it will only go at 2x. Just wandering if you were having the same problem?

  12. I got this error when using DVD Shrink. Tried DVD Decryptor and got no errors. So try different apps.
