After capturing a file to mpg and using TMPGEnc DVD Author to create a DVD, I tried opening the DVD files with DVD Author to combine with some other DVD files. When trying to open the file I get a GOP error message- "The Video GOP is too long. For a standard DVD it is necessary that the GOP meet the following condition: Max 36 fields (18 frames) for NTSC format.
I tried quite a few DVDs that were all captured, edited and authored with the same software and I get the same error on 2 others (out of the 20 or so that I tried).
What would cause the GOP to be too long on a couple files while many others captured and authored the same way are fine?
And how can I fix the GOP?

Hi BobK,
A quote from this guide (remember to rate it if you use it):
"Max. frames in GOP = 15 (for PAL) or 18 (for NTSC)
These are the standard DVD limits. This option is not present in older versions of TMPGEnc. If you're using one of those versions, you will need to control the number of frames using only the three previous settings. If a GOP has more frames than the standard allows, authoring programs will usually reject the file, and some players will not be able to play it."

I do know that it's a quick and easy solution, but (having never needed to do it coz I transfer to DV AVI and encode to MPEG2 with "Output interval of header" set to 1 and "Output closed GOP" disabled - read the guide, it'll explain) then I don't recall the exact steps.
Sorry it's not a full answer, but I suppose at least you know that there's an easy solution out there. Hopefully, someone will know it and post here...
Good luck. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

It does give the option to ignore, but I wasn't sure if the resulting DVD would have problems playing on at least some DVD players.
I just tried the Merge & Cut in TPMGEnc and it worked great.
Thanks for all the help. -
