  1. Can I hook up my Analog 8mm camcorder to my DV camcorder to capture my analog to dv, then transfer through my firewire? Is this a good option of capturing analog if I dont have a capture card? Thanks!

Many new cams are equipped with A/D converter that will allow analog source hookup and realtime transfer to PC via firewire. Look for the feature called "A/D (analog to digital) passthrough". If your cam has "DV in" port only you need to purchase a separate A/D converter like Datavideo DAC-100 or ADVC-100 from Canopus to be able to transfer analog signal to the cam.

  3. Yes, converting analog to DV with a camcorder is a very good option (providing you have a DV out as proxyx99 mentioned). I have tried three different makes (canon, hitachi and panasonic) and they all produced very good quality. In fact in my opinion even better than some of the DV converter boxes, like Pinnacle and Dazzle. The only DV converter that gave me better quality (though not by much) is the Canopus.
