    Hi,

When I first got this 815c Microtek LCD monitor, it worked awesome, however, now it is darker and for high graphic things like games sometimes it is almost black and very hard to see, if even able to see anything at all. The screen resolutions is not all that great anymore either, a little blury, and also the resolution is a lot more limited to changing the sizes. I think maybe I deleted some of its drivers, or udates, or something like that by mistake. WinXP new hardware is unable to find them also.

I went to the Microtek homepage, however, was not helpful.

What drivers, or updates, or something, is needed to fix the monitor? Please and thank you.

Are ASPI drivers (like Adaptec, and/or Force, and/or ...), and/or SCSI, and/or ATAPI, and/or ..., maybe needed to fix the monitor? Please and thank you.

Not sure I'm going to be much help but here's something to get started.

Unlike CRT displays, the LCD panel has a fixed pixel format over a set area. In order for LCD's to expand resolutions to full screen an interpolation must be performed. When the interpolated resolution is not an exact multiple of the native resolution some lines appear thicker than others. For best performance the “native resolution” setting is recommended. (this is from the NEC website).
First, you are right that no drivers exist on the Microtek website, or in Microsoft's knowledge base. I also noticed the box contents did not contain a CD so I'm assuming they want you to use the standard MS generic INF file. IF the box did contain a CD, try and find the INF file on it and put it in your \windows\INF folder. Delete the moniotr from My Computer and reboot. It should find the new INF.

IF you don't have a CD, deleting the monitor in My Computer and rebooting should at least return you to MS Generic settings.

Your monitor has a native resolution of 1280 X 1024 at 75hz. I would start with that. The contrast ratio is 350:1 which isn't great so I suspect you are going to have to keep brightness up a little higher than normal.

Video card problems is another possibility. I'd make sure it's not going bad by possibly hooking up another monitor that you know works well. Driver updates sometimes help but I doubt it's a video card driver issue. It would be nice if you could borrow another video card for a test.

Lastly, the 3 year warranty might be your only salvation.

    Hi,

Thanks for helping me I really appreciate it.

When I first got this Monitor it worked awesome. The monitor did not come with a cd. I hook other monitors into this pc that where not LCD they work very well also and when this LCD monitor is plug into a different pc it works awesome also, however, I think I deleted some of its files it needed to work well by mistake because now it does not work that great with this pc anymore. When the pc is loaded that new hardware ware found thing comes up, however, when it tries to find the files, it comes back saying not able to find files.

Something was said about deleting .inf monitor from this pc, however, there are a lot of monitor files and I do not know what MS Generic settings are.

    Just for curiousity's sake,

What is your current resolution - right-click on the desktop and choose SETTINGS. Your resolution should be there.

Now choose ADVANCED, then choose MONITOR

    What does it say there

    Hi,

My screen resolution right now is set at 1280 by 1024, which is very big. I like my sreen tiny, however, that is the lowest setting there is. There are now only 6 notches to change setting to and there use to be a lot more.

I do not know if this will help, however, below display it reads "Plug and Play Monitor on Radeon 7200 series"

  6. If you want to update the drivers, and you can't locate the product specific ones, here's how to do it from Windows. I have no idea whether this will do you any good or not, but it's worth a shot.

Go to Start --> Control Panels --> System (working in Classic View) --> Hardware tab --> Device Manager button.

Click the + icon by "Monitors" and right-click your monitor. Select "Update Driver". Tell Windows you want to update the driver automatically (recommended).

I tried this on my PC and it changed from a "Plug & Play monitor" to a "Sharp LL-T17A3-B" which is the exact model of my monitor, suggesting it can do the same for you.

With any luck, this will install the latest or at least working drivers for your monitor.

Hope I've helped, and good luck!

    Hi,

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

It did not work it said cannot find, ...

There is something wrong with the RADEON 7200 Series because that is where the hardware problems is coming from and it says it cannot find updates or something like that.
