Does anyone know of a program that will alter my voice. In the past couple of years I've been video taping many of my kids sporting events and editing them in Pinnacle Studio 8. (Yes I know, it's buggy and it does try my patience. With some perseverance my results have been good though).

I would like to try adding narration but I don't have a good narrator's voice. I would like to find a program that will deepen my voice or alter it in some way so it sounds "cool". (My dream would be to sound like John Facenda on the old NFL highlight films before he died).

Can anyone give me any suggestions or a direction to go in?

    Thank you.

    Vanster :)

If you have a little spare time on your hands, try Gold Wave. It will record your voice and change its pitch and speed, etc. I also would suggest asking a neighbor to volunteer his/her voice, or have Mom do the honors. I like the latter options although if your kids love you irregardless of your voice, you may be finding yourself a little too self conscious and your voice really is okay.

  3. I know when you purchase a sb audigy card it comes with software to change the voice. It has presets for male voice, female voice, robot and a few others. Honestly though I was in a similiar perdictament a few months ago and just sucked it up and did it with my own voice. Do people run the other way when you talk? If not than its probably an acceptable voice to others.

Thank you for the replies. No, my voice isn't that bad. I've never been mistaken for a girl or an adolescent but I don't sound like a pro either. Like I said, I was hoping for the "John Facenda" effect. (If you're younger than 30 you might not know what I'm talking about).

I just downloaded a copy of Audacity from the tools section. I'll give that a try.

  6. Pinnacle Studio version 9 came out with "Plugin" concept for video and audio. Maybe in their new Audio Plugins is what you are looking for or maybe thete is or will be plugin developed that does it.

Night at the pub does wonders too...

Make sure you script your narration - try a short sequence and test. You may find that with a little practice your own voice isn't that bad. I think you confidence improves when you read (and re-read) over narrating from memory.
