  1. I'm trying to make an .avi file suitable for viewing on Quicktime using ffmpegx, I came across this video codec

    VIDEO: 24PM

Converting it to DivX didn't work at all, and converting it to mpeg1 only has a blank screen.

I aslo tried (using virtual PC) to convert in on tmpgenc, but it says the file it unsupported.

I CAN view it on VLC, but I'd like to eventually burn it to DVD format (probably using Sizzle or Toast) to free up space. Is there any way to do to convert it to mpeg1 or DivX?

    Thanks for any help

    1. what happens when you "doctor" it with the associated divx doctor that was apart of the divx codex install?

    2. what happens when you attempt to convert it to mpeg though mpeg2works?

    3. what sort of errors did you get with ffmpegx?

I can't say anymore, but there's wind of a new tool that *might* be able to do what you want, and convert it to MPG (VCD) or MPEG2 (DVD, SVCD) formats in a very intuitive manner. I don't know the timetable, so all I can say is stay tuned. Try seeing if mplayer can play it back, and if so, there's a good chance this new tool (when it gets released) will do exactly what you want.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  4. I figured it out. mencoder wouldn't do it (Divx setting) but ffmpeg would (fast Divx settting) so problem solved
