I've converted 2 separate AVI files to 2 MPEG2 files with TMPGEnc Plus, but I'd like to join these 2 MPEG2 files into 1 MPEG2 file. I'm not clear how TMPGEnc Plus does this though ... is it through "multiplexing" or "cut/merge" or something else? Thanks!

Thanks teegee420 - Is there any loss of quality on the final MPEG2?

No, but some people experience audio sync problems in joined files on occasion.

I've only heard of this with files not created with TMPGEnc, never with files produced by TMPGEnc.

You're probably right. Everytime I had a problem it was with files I didn't encode myself.

The author of this excellent encoder has acknowledged this problem but in my opinion why should he care?

Thanks Will Hay & teegee420. I tried this last night & don't know why I couldn't figure it out. I'll try again tonight.

    My/our pleasure.

Click add to add your first file, and then again to add your second, then click output to select your destination and file name for your newly joined file.
If you wish to can also clip the the footage before you join, using the edit button.

Thanks Will Hay. It seems easy enough ... not sure how I messed it up last night.

I also had audio/video synching problems when stitching mpgs. However I found out that you don't need to if you are going to author a DVD. Ulead, for example, will accept a string of mpgs and create the DVD output for you

This seemed easy, but there is something basic that I am not understanding. Here's a good explanation of my problem: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=213485
