  1. Yes, I know you can search for media versus writer on this web site but the media brands and writers specified are limited.

I have a Pioneer 107D and have upgraded the firmware to the hacked 110, which apparently means I can now write some DVD-R 4x media at 8x. I have tried Datawrite Red V2, Bulkpaq Orange (4x) and Ritek Tango G04 (4x). None seem to record at 8x using Nero 6.3.

In fact, the fastest I can burn a full 4.3gig DVD is about 18-19 minutes, which seems slower than even 4x write speed. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone tell me if there is a web site that lists DVD media compatibility and speeds versus writer and firmware versions? Or does anyone know what media I can use to write at 8x using my Pioneer 107D that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Thanks in advance.

  2. Most of the retailers online will list the compatability of media and burners..
If they dont try searching out a new supplier.
Suggested for use on the following hardware: Pioneer 103/A03, Pioneer 104/A04, Pioneer 105/A05, Pioneer 106/A06, Pioneer 107/A07, Panasonic E20, E30, E50, E100, HS2, Sony DVD+/-R drives,Plextor DVD+/-R drives, Sony PS2, X-Box, NEC ND-1300a., NEC ND 2500, Liteon DVD+/-R drives, LG DVD+/-R drives and most other DVD-R writers and modern DVD players.
Or at least the one i use does.

  3. Thanks - I am aware of this though. However, this only means you can burn that disc on that writer - but not necessarily at the speed the disc is capable of writing at.

That is the problem I have. Most DVD-R 4x discs will burn on a Pioneer 107 but often only at 2x or 2.4x, a very few at 4x and none that I can find at 8x. So thanks for your reply but my question is what brands will write at a genuine 4xs and 8xs on a Pioneer 107..

  4. That sounds more like a firmware issue than a media one.
I use a Pioneer 105 and have always burned at 4X with the media i use (Ritek Printable) Did use some Pinco and Ice disks as well and they burned at 4X Ok as well..
