Interesting problem with backing up

Here's the situation: On certain DVD back ups, instead of backing up the entire movie, it only backs up a few seconds (if that) of every chapter. So when I hit play, it "plays" through the "entire" movie within seconds. It's odd because the menus and special features are all in tact still. This has happened on two back ups so far...and only recently. I've also switched to dvd+rw media from dvd+r (both Memorex). Does anyone have a theory on this? Thanks in advance.

you really need to provide more information.. such as the program you're using to transcode.

Sorry...I'm using dvd X-Copy Platinum and the two movies that I've had this problem with so far are Open Range and My Boss's Daughter.
