  1. Hi all,

Hopefully this is in the right forum:

Well, I just recently started uing my ATI AIW 8500 to watch TV on my comp. I d/l MMC 8.9 and went through the TV setup routine but the problem is that it only detected 3 channels. I running a Monster splitter so I dont think splitter quality is the issue and Ive verified all connections. I have both internet and cable tv with Comcast (my ISP) so im running the splitter off the cable going to my modem. I cant figure out why it wont work... maybe some kind of a filter setting or...?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    DBZ

  2. When setting up MMC 8.9 did you select cable or antenna?

  3. Is this analog or digital cable? Or a combo of both? i.e. lower channels analog, upper channels digital.
If digital or combo, you'll have to set mmc to ch.3 (if using coaxial) and use your cable box to switch channels.

If this is all analog. (which would surprise me) Then make sure mmc is set to "analog" input.

My cable box has composite outs, so I use mmc's composite input. But I still have to switch channels with the box.

    Regards.

  4. I have Comcast Internet and cable and it works great. On my setup I have the main cable going to a three way splitter and hook up my ATI AIW 8500, cable modem and a small tv set. Try connecting your cable directly to you ATI Card and see if it works. You could have a bad cable or splitter. You should only need the cable box if you want the premium channels.

If the picture quality is poor and the channels are very snowy you may need an amplifier installed before the splitter to boost the signal back up to 15db for the antenna input. Try to find one with a 10db gain and 1000mhz (1ghz) bandwidth. Most cheap amps claim a range of 5-950mhz, but they actually start cutting off at around 540mhz(ie. lower channels are amplified, upper channels are not).

  7. You may have a bad cable or a bad connection else where. Check all connections and if you can try another cable. The signal from comcast should be Strong enough. I have 4 tvs, 2 have vcrs and 2 have a dvd player and vcr, plus my video card and my cable modem and I don't use any amps.

  8. Just had another thought. Can you try hooking a tv to the cable? Maybe you have a bad card.
