You don't need DVD Shrink to backup a backup. When you Backed up the original DVD you removed encryption and shrunk to fit on one DVDR. Therefore there is no encryption on your backup and no need to Shrink the backup. Therefore there is no need to use DVD decrypter, DVD Shrink or any other software other than your trusty My Computer or Windows Explorer. Copy the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders from the DVD to your HD and use your favorite burning software to burn.
If in doubt, Google it. -

All it means is that perhaps your player can read Riteks much better than any other media. As pointed out by richdvd, there is no difference between media. My DVD player might play Princos better than yours for example. The disc itself still has to same info on it regardless of the brand.

As you stated, you bought a 5 pack of Ritek, and used them for the first time. Five discs is still a bit early to try to make judgements, in my own opinion.
That said, from my understanding, there should be NO DIFFERENCE in the picture quality between a Ritek and any other media. One might prove less compatible with your burner, and freeze or lock up. One might prove less compatible with your own home DVD player. That said, from my understanding, if it plays, it should play equally well whether it had been a Ritek, or a Memorex, or an Imation, or a TDK, etc. (assuming all other things are equal, such as compression levels, etc.)
You may simply be noticing a difference in quality of image or sound from one DVD to another (in the source DVD, or even in the source material). For example, expect to see a lot more grain in some films because the director wanted it that way.
Hope this helps,
