    Hello everyone,

    tbh I'm a bit of a n00b but here's my problem:
I downloaded a movie, which was called '***.avi', however, when I tried to convert it into an mpeg2 using TMPGEnc so that I could create a dvd, TMPGEnc returned this error msg:
    'file unsupported or not recognised'.
Therefore, I downloaded AVICodec, which identified the file as an XViD - MPEG-4? I've never dealt with this format before and I've searched through various articles on the site and looked for conversion tools but to no avail.
Does anyone know if there's a plugin that I can use for tmpgenc which will allow me to convert this type of file?

    Thanks very much.

    P.S. I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 (if that's relevant!?)

Installing FFDSHOW should allow TMPGEnc to open your xvid.
