  1. Hi There,

I've recent bought a Phillips DVD Recorder. It works great and I find the editing facilities very useful but I have a few problems. Firstly the player doesn't seem record in 16:9, or at least it appears to (plays back Ok) but on my computer the everything is stretched.

The other problem is that any edits to DVD+R discs cannot be read by DVD players. The edits to DVD+RW discs could but my DVD player doesn't read the discs at all.

So, I have had to re-think my approach: Basically I wish to record onto +R discs ultimately for increased compatibility, so the only way to do this is to write onto +RWs using the player, make edits then burn a copy using my computer. A bit more long winded than I would wish but I think the only way. If anyone has any alternative suggestions I'm happy to hear them.

However, rather than make a direct copy it would be useful to quickly correct the aspect ratio problem in the IFO files using IFOEdit before I make the final burn.

    Therefore my questions are:

    1) How do you change the aspect ratio of an IFO file? (I've had a look on the IFOEdit site but no guides cover this)

    2) Can I use IFOEdit to re-author, or make a direct copy which incorporates this change? If not is there an easy way. My main concern is that the whole process is not too involved.

    Many thanks in advance.

    2. after you made this change you only need to reburn the video_ts on a dvd(first copy your dvd to hd and then make the ifoedit changes)
