I use a notebook with the following spec:
P4 Windows XP , 1.6 Ghz, 256 Ram, 19 Gb available hard drive space, new bus firewire card IEEE 1394, and sony digital 8 TRV 460 camcorder.
I tried to capture home video but the audio is not captured, the video is flickering, really bad using WMM and DVIO. I couldn't even play back the tape using WMM.
However, I downloaded a trial version of Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 and used the video capture feature. Play back was excellent as well as the video capture. Created a small mpeg file with the captured avi file and it plays fine in media player. However, when I tried to play the avi file in media player, the quality is flickering and ther's no audio. This same avi file plays fine using the video capture of media studio pro.
Other mpeg files I made before from analogue capture (using matrox marvel G400 under Windows 98 from my old computer) play fine in media player in my notebook.
Any one can shed a light as to why is this hapenning and suggest a solution? (other than buying MSP 7 of course)
Thanks,
Mourad

are you capturing in type 1 or type 2 avi? it should be type 2. some media players cant read type 1 right.

To tell you the truth, I didn't know which type I used. I did some tests using DVIO and with type 2, I'm getting the audio but the video is still the same. However, the captured type 2 avi file plays fine using Ulead MSPro 7. Must be something wrong with my media player, many thanks for your input.
