My apologies, I know this has probably been addressed fifty times in these posts but I don't know what the problem is CALLED.
I finally succeeded in backing up an old commercial video I own onto DVD. But the champagne corks are not popping yet; when I played the disc on a standalone, the audio and video are out of sync.
I am using a very cumbersome process - capture, convert avi to mpg with the software included in my capture program, use TMPGnc to demultiplex the files, use Ifoedit to create VOB files, use IMGTool to create an iso file, use dvd decrypter to burn.Gotta be a better way but this is the first process that has produced anything resembling a movie; my capture program theoretically does all this but will not burn discs that play.
Other than the fact that I'm being ridiculous, what do you think is going wrong? Do I Really need to buy a better authoring program, or could this just be a setting adjustment?

I'm assuming by "old commercial video" you're referring to tape? In that case get a TBC for the sync problem. They work wonders for cleaning up tape caps
