See the above link for this press release from Cyberlink... Does this really mean anything? I'm very new to DVD authoring and am using the new Ulead DVDWS2 as it was very easy to learn. Yet i've been reading many posts giving it a bad name, calling it recreational, etc..It makes me wonder because DSE is one of its endorsers.... anyways, back to the article, does this endorsement by the DVD Forum carry a lot of weight? with this new logo:

let's get a discussion going on this one!

Seems like DVD Forum must have been somewhat encouraged by Cyberlink to give it a deeper look. What does it mean? Nothing.
Tonns of DVD authoring progs are way better, more consistent and predictable. Looks like Cyberlink has financed a nice tropical island getaway for some DVD Forum members...

well it seems pretty heavy,,, how much weight does the Forum carry in the field? Seems like a lot if they'r edeveloping and testing all the standards and everything.. So you think that PC Authoring logo is meaningless huh?....what program do you recommend for someone who is using DVDWS2 ?

Are other sofware packages going to have this endorsement by the DVD Forum, is Cyberlink's just the first one to get it? What about programs like ReelDVD and DVD Lab (neither of which I have used but heard good things)

i talked to someone at apple regarding thier authoring app and they never even heard of this logo thing ..

seems to be only for consumer apps

oh really,,, because if you read more on the Forum about the process that has to be followed in order to achieve this endorsment, it looks like a lot of testing and verification. What program do you recommend that someone who has pretty much mastered Ulead DVDWS should move on to next in the pursuit of a less amateur looking final product? My company will be getting into DVD production pretty heavily and I have a small window of time to learn anothe program or just stay with DVDWS.. I've produced 6 masters that we're taking to the replication plant to have tested with their equipment. I'm hoping the 6 I did in Ulead pass the test,,, that's why this DVD Forum endorsement on Cyberlink's product caught my eye after I read it in more detail...

well Cyberlink product IS a cheap consumer product (they even say so) ..

and sure isnt used for pro/production applications i assure you ..

if you want to move up to something , look at apples offerings or dvd producer or REEL DVD or adobe encore perhaps ..
