Is TMPGEnc free from their official site or is it only a trial version? I'm asking about the encoder ... not the whole authoring program. Is it free for unlimited use or will it expire? Thanks!

Mpeg 1 encoding is free, Mpeg 2 encoding expires after 30 days unless you pay & register. (they have to pay the owners of the Mpeg-2 codec royalties).

Got it ... thanks, housepig. It appears that if you want to buy unlimited MPEG2 encoding from the beginning, then you want to buy TMPGEnc Plus.

It won't be the flamers that let you have it. I will be the people
that wrote the rules for this site that you didn't read.
