  1. Ive made many vcds in the past using nero 5...and everything would work fine. I stopped making vcds for a few months and installed nero 6.

Now when i burn a vcd everything would burn fine (no popups or anything)...But when i try playing it in my dvd player the menu screen will show for a split second then disappear (black screen). I can still press 1 to start the movie.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi Na$,

I'm having the same problem as well when creating the VCD..."stuck" when position the menu page (always blank and only saw the split page once at first time!!)..in fact I need to press "1" to continue the rest...

Is is the bug? I have tried to update the patches from Nero on 18.03.2004 but it seems this problem was never been rectified!!

Anyone knows or encounters this problem?

    TQ.

    regards,
    choon

The solution is simple: Use VCDEasy to author. Nero is a competent app when it comes to burning stuff to disc, but let's leave it at that.

Nero always (in each and every of their numerous releases) has some malfunction in some aspect(s) of its ever expanding palette of what it claims to do. It's very simple: The more features you add to an application, the greater the risk that you introduce a bug somewhere. Nero has grown from an excellent application for writing stuff to writable CD/DVD media, to still be excellent at writing stuff to writable CD/DVD media, but just fair-to-unusable at a lot of other stuff. I guess that VCD authoring just isn't their top priority.

  6. I forgot to ask.

When making a vcd with VCDEasy whats the best guide to use and do i still use TMPGenc to encode before i put into VCDEasy.

Can u give me some tips on using this program?

    Thanks again.

Yes, you still encode to VCD mpeg, and then let VCDEasy take it from there. As the guides section is searchable by tool, I suggest you search for guides where VCDEasy is involved.
If you want to use VCDEasy to burn the VCD to disc (not just author), you got to have a working ASPI layer on your system. If not, I recommend ForceASPI.
You can also use VCDEasy to just create the VCD image - just uncheck the "Burn" checkbox. VCDEasy will then stop after creating the VCDImage, which you can write to disc using "any" burning software that supports writing of cue/bin. Nero is one of them.

  9. my problem is different. After I ripped it with EazyVCD, I used Nero 6 to burn the VCD to disc but on my dvd player, the only screen I see is "Created by Nero" and I can't do anything from there. The burning with Nero is just a simple process of creating new VCD, and add the file that was ripped by EazyVCD but it got stuck when I tried to play it on my dvd player. My Dvd player is able to play any VCD because it works on other VCD disc I tried.
