  1. I have an Xvid .avi. I want to convert it to an SVCD. When I try to encode it with TMPGEnc, it gives me the error in the post topic. I had VirtualDub check for errors and it found none. I've tried to increase the DirectShow filter in the Vfapi plugins section of TMPGEnc, but it reads the file incorrectly. It will encode fine, but it says that the file is 30 fps when VirtualDub and GSpot say that it is 23.976 fps. My source file has about 58,000 frames, but when I increase the Directshow filter, TMPGEnc reads 70,000 something frames (I've calculated it, it runs 30 fps). When I don't frameserve with VirtualDub or increase the DirectShow filter, it says "Invalid Pointer Operation" any time I change settings that involve examining the file (like filters). When I frameserve with VirtualDub, it'll let me change those settings just fine and will do the 1st Pass (the analyzation) of the 2-Pass VBR, but as soon as it starts to actually encode, it gives the error in the post topic. Are VirtualDub and GSpot wrong or is TMPGEnc doing a pulldown within seconds?????????!!!!!!!!!!! If the source file has no unreadable or bad frames, then why does TMPGEnc have such a hard time encoding even with VirtualDub frameserving. I've tried a CBR for trial purposes. It would encode for a random amount of time, but then would stop. Any suggestions or help?

  2. it doesn't matter if tmpgenc reads the file incorrectly.
gspot says it's 23.97 fps, so set the frame rate to 23.97 and use 3:2 pulldown.

  3. What about the extra frames? It is actually showing 70,000 something frames. They look like actual frames from the video (they look real). Will it make the video and audio out of sync?

I get that error on maybe 1/3 of my TMPG Encodes? Frameserving usually fixes it. Lately I've gone over to Procoder, it never errors out on me, although it's a little slower. It's not as good about Audio, but now I jsut do it seperately since it doesn't amtter when Authoring.

And yes, that's on AVI's that check out 100% in VDUB (they had no frame drops, as they are all my original captures).

  5. I've tried frameserving, and it does not work. Thanks anyway, Gazorgan.
