For all those that wanted more from DVD-Lab, looks like it will have everything that the high priced apps have now(PRO).

The PRO will take time to develop with all the features that are planned, this is just the first incarnation of PRO, the DVD-lab Standard continues normally with free updates.
The initial price of pro is expected to be around $160 where the previous users will be able to pay just the difference between the (current) price.
The plan for PRO is:
- multiple VTS
- scripting
- subtitles
- multiple audio
- DVD-9 with layer break
- export to tape
- access to registers and pre-commands-----------------------------------------------------
There is a reason why God gave us one mouth and two ears!!! -
At $160, that is a steal in my opinion.
This will probably be the best bang for the buck authoring tool out there(not including the free tools) IMO. -
Multi VTS, multiple audio, access to registers and commands, all for $160? And Scenarist is €5510 basic package (in Spain, not sure if it's cheaper somewhere else)? What's the catch?
-
Oddly enough, no catch. The author of the program is just a great guy who wants to get great software to the masses at an affordable price.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the PRO beta 2 version. -

Definitely a steal. If he manages to put all these features in the Pro version for $160 he'll make all of us very happy but he's bound to piss off some people at Sonic. Hopefully they don't buy him off.
Any rumours on when Beta 2 is coming out? -
I really don't understand what those features mean. Anyone care to explain, scripting, multiple vts, etc?
-
Put simply,
multiple VTS is the only way to mix different frame sizes and different aspect ratio (4:3 and 16:9) on the same DVD. Also, allows for more complex menu creation with nicer features.
scripting and access to registers as well as setting pre and post commands enables the playback flow to be more creative. E.g. Select a title from a menu and then continue with all the subsequent ones or go back to the menu highlighting the next title.
Exporting to tape and authoring dual layer DVD's is the final step a tool must have to be used by professionals for DVD duplication.
And I think, multiple audio and subpicture streams are self explanatory.
Finally, I believe that the $160 price makes much sense. Adobe Encore, which despite it's bugs, is complete and more functional, cost more or less twice as much. And it is a brand name.
On the other hand, do you remember how much companies like Pinnacle charged for firewire cards just 18 months ago? Now these ports come for free on budget price Motherboards. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
