When backing up a DVD9 in Full Disc mode should I get a working menu? Reason I ask is that I just backed up my personal copy of Finding Nemo and the menu comes up but is not working? Thank you for your advice and reply, by the way did the same thing with DVD2One and got the same result, no working menu. If these 2 problems will not back up a working menu then what program will other than CloneDvd.
    Thank You,

Did you strip anything out? Sometimes stripping subtitles can result in navigation errors.

doubleshadowice, thank you for the reply. No I did not stip anything out, not even the subtitles. As I said the menu is there and comes up but when you click on one of the menu buttons nothing happens, it just sits there, when I hit play on Power DVD the movie begins to play but I was wanting a workable menu also. Beats me?

It sounds like you used DVD Shrink in re-author mode. The menus will not work ..... If you want working menus you must use full disk mode

Nyplayer thank you for the reply but as stated in my original post I really did use full disk mode and not reauthor mode. Any other suggestions.

If you want menus use your original disk, BUT l sugest to use reauthor mode so any old fool or you kids can use the disk, stick it in the box and they autoplay, no choices, no time wasted getting to the goodies, less compression.

  8. Hi Golfnut, did you have to compress the movie? I had the same problem with star trek next gen. I set the menu's to 'no compression' in dvdshrink and they work fine now, it seems my stand alone player couldn't "see" what was highlighted in the menus when they were compressed even slightly. Hope this helps.

  9. Try your disk on another dvd player.

  10. Did you try it on your stand alone dvd player? When I'm using Power DVD on the pc, I can't navigate menus directly by clicking, I have to click the menu option and then press play.

I haven't burned to disc yet. I am afraid to since I can not get the menus to work when I play the movie from my hard drive using Power DVD. Do you think I should go ahead and burn and disc eventhough the menus are not working when I try them using the hard drive files? Thanks for your help.

Try burning it to a DVD+rw or DVD-rw. If the menus work you can then go ahead and burn it to DVDr. If it doesn't work you just format the DVDrw and start over.

Yeah that's fine ... I was just checking. you weren't bypassing the VIDEO_TS .ifo, which as you know, has the navigation info.

Seems as though you have it cracked now ..... I have had the odd movie like this, where Power DVD doesn't play ball, but the burnt copy works fine.
Funny thing is though I have done a backup of Nemo (PAL version) Region 2 and didn't have this problem. I'm using Power DVD version 5.
