I use Premier6 and find it great for working with raw footage.
I'm a computer animator and usually render to TGA sequences, edit in Premier and output to uncompressed AVI's and let other programs compress to MPEG2 or DivX.
I sometimes problems if I try to edit the compressed files in Premier though.
Is Pinnacle Studio a similar sort of package that likes MPEG2 more?
Premier and other tools have been fine for me until now, but I'm about to get a miniDV camcorder so I think I'll be working with Hi quality compressed video more and more.
Thanks for any advice.

DV can be edited fine and Premiere is an ideal tool for this.
Mpeg (1 or 2) were never intended to be editable formats. Divx etc can be edited by some apps also present problems.
