  1. I thought it might have to do with the way it was encoded, but movies play full widescreen when I tried it in the my PS2, friend's DVD player, and my computer with PowerDVD. I made sure in the setup preferences that display was set to wide and TV type as NTSC. Never had a problem with hundreds of SVCDs and VCDs playing widescreen on this APEX 1500. But, only with DVDRs. Anyone know a workaround?

    I have an apex 1500 and it plays anamorphic ntsc movies(wide screen) but not pal,plays them stretched,Maybe thats your problem?

  3. Thanks...but I don't think that's it. For example, I just converted a DivX to DVD using TMPGEnc and made sure the setting was NTSC and while it shows widescreen on other machines, it comes out full-screen on the APEX.

    Are you setting aspect ratio to 16:9 in the video settings?I do that and my pics play proper even when i convert anamorphic pal to anamorphic ntsc .

    Do retail movies play in proper ratio?Might be the authoring program you are using isnt setting the 16:9 display right.
