Hi all...
Anyone know of a good way to clean the inside of a DVD writer?
Is there anything special out there that does a good job?

Do a forum search - there are a load of posts regarding this.
Be very sure you need to do what you're talking about, since there are risks involved and most people never have to clean a lens in their life unless they're heavy smokers or live in a very dirty, dusty house (in which case they will probably die from silicosis or asthma before the drive does). -
You can open your DVD player, vacum it if necessary and clean the laser pickup lens with a cotton swab. I used a bit of a lens cleaning fluid (optical, for coated lenses). No issues. Worked fine.
One remark, if you have any reading/writing problems I doubt if this is gonna fix it unless there was in fact a speck of dust on the lens.
