I am a relatively nub DVD ripper/burner. I have successfuly backed-up about 35 DVD's with good success. Two days ago everything stopped working.
I use DVD Decrypter to decode, (3.2.0.0 was working fine,) DVD2One to shrink, IMGtools to make a burnable image, and DVD Decrypter again to burn the image. This is the way I do it only because my buddy gave me all this software, and showed me how to do it in three minutes. I am sure there are better ways, but it has worked.
Here is where it started sucking. Successfuly ripped and burned Simpsons Series 3 discs 1-3 last week. I received disc four from ... on Tuesday, and now I have made seven coasters. The wierd thing is that before trying to decode/burn, I downloaded a new RAID driver through windows update. This thing screwed my cpu up so bad. Finally found a way to get my old drivers working. Started the decrypting process, to learn that a new version of DVD Decrypter came out. Downloaded it, uninstalled the old version, installed new version. I Decrypted the DVD just fine. Shrunk files just fine to 4.37 GB. Made image just fine. Burned seemed to go fine, until I tried to play my DVD back, and I get a message saying: Error Code 89030000 Unknown File Format on my Power DVD Player. Go downstairs to my DVD player on my TV, and it says basically same thing, unplayable. I think, great, there is something wrong with my cpu because of the windows update. I do a system restore to the previous day, which includes version 3.2.0.0, thinking that this is a result of a.) new version of DVD Decrypter or b.) RAID controller Driver issue.
Reburned the same DVD using 3.2.0.0 from the syst restore. Coaster. Today, I could not even do any system restores, so I am thinking this is all just a product of instabillity on my hard drive from the windows update. WIPE my whole CPU. Reformatted the harddrive, clean install of windows xp. DL'd new version of DVD Dec, and still more coasters.

So that is it. One day I am in burning heaven, the next day a cold dish of oatmeal that is hell. Funny thing is that yesterday I did a test to see if I could burn images saved on my cpu that I knew where good, and it worked fine. Not sure what version of DVD Decrypter I was using to burn with, but it should not matter. The previous stuff I had saved worked just fine, which rules out a problem with hardware, (NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A,) or the blank DVD's, (Verbatim +R's.) Have you ever heard of this happening? Keep in mind, I wiped my cpu clean today, and reinstalled everything. Drivers, software, etc...
No clue as to what is happening here. Just very upset. Also, The DVD's are coming from "friends," so the fouth DVD of a four disc set is probably not from the same exact set. I do not think that should matter if I burned three of them already though. In fact, I can decrypt the bad DVD, as an Undefined file, instead of the usuall insert title...video ts. This is making me crazy.

any thoughts would be appreciated. sorry such a long post...

~that's your fault. I have never ran into a problem that required a reformat and re-install of the OS...and my PC has been pretty screwed up before. So all your work was just an exercise in ignorance...because your problem still remained.

Also, The DVD's are coming from "friends," so the fouth DVD of a four disc set is probably not from the same exact set.
Read the forum rules. "Backing up" a DVD is debatedly legal when you yourself actuall own the original. If you don't own the original, that's called piracy. And this thread will be locked as soon as a moderator reads it.

You should do some research and read. There are more than a few posts with people having issues with the new Decrypter. If it worked before why did you update it? I still use 3.1.4.0, it works, so why update it? Your problem is not a result of your RAID driver update.

Don't want to nit pic or anything. But you should maybe freshin up on your PC terminology. The CPU is the central processing unit. Which is just one part located inside the case (only purpose of the case is to hold everything together). There's also the harddrive (holds all your data). Ram, motherboard (which everything plugs into). and much more.

Maybe I'm being anal but it drives me nutz when I see this. Sorry!

Wow there is so much illegal activity going on here.

Your "friend" probably gave you a bad fourth disc. Here is what I would suggest.

Go to ebay and purchase the simpsons DVD yourself. I mean come on. One of the best damn shows on TV deserves your money. If you buy it off of ebay it will be cheaper than the store.

Oh yeah 35 DVDs = NOT a newb.
