  1. Yesterday I burned a VCD of 44Minutes , (The VCD .dat is 808,213KB (Tmpgenc VCD Template , @ 2100kbps).

Today I was going to burn another 45 minute episode , which comes to 729MB (VCD Template @ 2100kbps) , but this time , Nero comes up with an "Insufficient Space .. to burn this compilation".

I'm pretty sure I have 800MB to burn in Mode 2 (which is why I up'd the bitrate to use more Cd space) , but it just isn't working. Is this some sort of Nero problem? I havn't tried uninstalling yet , but that's my next step.

    Anyone have any similar problems?

Also , i've been out of the VCD loop for a while. Can someone just give me a "your right" on the 80min/800MB (Mode 2) thing I believe to be fact.

You're right. I think maybe Nero is trying to re-encode your mpeg because it isn't compliant VCD(1150kbps). Just a thougt.

  3. I have a bitrate calculator which gives the following as CD size when burning a VCD (mode 2):

    74 mins = 748MB (765,797KB)
    80 mins = 797MB (816,521KB)

These figures are theoretical - blank CDs vary and the VCD will have a minimal overhead for it's other files/folders.

    Is Nero re-encoding your VCD?
Sounds unlikely as a re-encode to standard VCD bitrates would lower the video bitrate to 1150kb/s and make the VCD smaller.

  4. I recieve the message when I start the burn.

It doesn't try to reencode the file.I burned a non compliant VCD (bitrate 2100kbps) before I tried to burn this one (which I included it's details in my first post).

It has to be the software.Nero burned a similar file before this one (the 44min 720MB or so file (800MB+ .dat) , which burned fine. This file is very similar in size and encoding scheme.Same media is being used.

I'm thinking the only thing I can do is re-install the latest version of Nero and hope for the best.Once I get back to that PC , i'll see if the reinstall resolves the issue.

Are you sure you're not using 74 minute 650mb media? What is the exact size of the mpeg in question?
