Brand spankin' newbie here. I know nothing about DVD burners. Right now I'm leaning toward the Plextor PX-708A 8-in-1 8x4x12, based soley on editor reviews on cNet.com.
Is this the way to go, or should I be looking at something else?
Thanks.

I didn't know that you could find a burner for over $200? Plextor, Sony, Pioneer, and LiteOn seem to be the big players, oh and NEC. All have their advantages and disadvantages. The NEC's are generally more picky about media. Some drives will only burn -R at 8x with a firmware hack. Check the reviews in the DVD Writers section to the left. As for myself, I have my old trusty Pioneer 105 that I've burned over 400 discs with without a single coaster. I can't complain.
