    Quick question for you guys...

I've duplicated about 80 movies now, and the way that I've been testing them so far is by putting my disc in my stand alone dvd player, playing each chapter for a few seconds and then going to the next chapter and so forth until I reach the end. However, could I eliminate this step and be more accurate by just running the disc through DVDInfoPro and checking for errors? If the disc shows no errors, then shouldn't I be good to go? It would be nice if this is the case because going chapter by chapter through each movie is laborious and sort of a pain.

  2. hehe....I find this post kinda humorous after responding to your "Maxell" media post.

Personally, I think DVD burners are more tolerant of higher error. So I've done Nero CDSpeed tests & DVDInfoPro read tests using my Toshiba DVD-Rom drive....it's not perfect, but more "honest".

I'm Curious, what brand/model burner do you use?

  4. Sorry, I'm not familiar with any unique testing tools for that drive.

I think you just need to get some media that will provide you with the confidence that types of media give.

Man...I feel your pain. You sound like me 6 months ago. My fix was superior media. The problem with that is, "superior media" means something different to different people.

    Good luck....

I think you're looking more into this than what I intended. All I'm asking is whether testing your disc in DVDInfoPro (and if comes back without any errors) is sufficient OR do you still need to go through your movie and check a few seconds of each chapter for errors.

Bottom line is... does an error free cd (that dvdinfopro shows) mean that the copy will be perfect or could there still be problems that dvdinfopro doesn't indicate?

  6. Error testing programs only tell you one thing. How well it READS on YOUR burner through YOUR operating system. I have perfectly good burns that skip and pixelate on one of my standalones....I have also seen some bad tests play well on my portable.....go figure.

The only sure fire test is to sit and watch the whole fuggin' thing on your standalone.
