  1. I have tried to use DVD2SVCD to convert my captured AVI to MPG2.

I use a miro dc10+ capture card and use MJPEG codec (must use for DC10).

If I load any downloaded AVI into DVD2SVCD I can encode them as I get a GREEN go button, but when I load my captured avi into the program, I cannot get a GREEN go button. I assumed that maybe DVD2SVCD was having problems with my MJPEG and loaded morgan codec onto my machine but still no go.

Different versions of DVD2SVCD makes no difference.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

  2. Take a look on the "AVI Hints" tab in dvd2svcd.

  3. thanks for replying.

are you tell me this because the answer is in the avi hints and you would rather me read this than tell me the answer? I am posting because I have read alot and have not been able to work this out.

The avi hints deal with codec problems for DV avi. I am capturing via a miro dc10+ card in MJPEG. I do believe it is a codec problem but what exactly I am not sure. I do not know where SVCD gets its codecs from. As previously stated, I have loaded Morgan MJPEG codec onto my machine even thou I would of thought the pinnacle software would of loaded the codec it uses anyway. Still no go.

One again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

  4. I believe you need type-2 avi and not type-1. Not sure if that's your problem or not. I do have more hints in the dvd2svcd advanced reference which may or may not help.

  5. I was thinking, if you got the Canopus DV codec, and converter, you should then be able to load your avi's into dvd2svcd and encode. That's all it says on the Hints tab...
Any time dvd2svcd has crapped out on me, either a) the Canopus thing has fixed it, or b)virtualdub has, by re-saving the avi using a different codec (divx mpeg-4 for example).
