  1. I burned a picture slideshow w/audio to a VCD ( my player does not support SVCD) and learned just what a waste of time that was. Resulting images were of very poor quality. While poking around dvdrhelp web site I noticed a link to the TMPGEnc program which allowed me to rewrite the header file of SVCD output to look like VCD. The original slideshow contained very high-resolution jpgs and the audio files were mp3. After converting the SVCD file with TMPGEnc and burning it to a CD in VCD format the image quality really improved, but the audio was waxed ( all out sink). I repeated the process replacing the mp3 files with wav files and still had the same issues with audio playback. Not sure what to do next, any ideas ?

Also, if someone knows of better tools to generate high-resolution slideshows w/ audio, that can intern be burn on a CD for play back in a DVD player, I would really appreciate the info. It seems like a such waste of space / processor power to write a still images at 29.97 fps to play back in DVD. FYI, I really desire the DVD playback capability to share slideshow with friends.

    Thanks,

if you really need audio to your pictures i can't help you. but if you just want to see some pics in your tv try VCDEasy and create MPEG stills and author as (s)vcd.

you said that picture quality improved when using svcd instead of vcd, but both formats supports same stillsizes so there shouldn't be any difference.

  3. Hi,
use 'SlideShowMovieMaker' (Freeware) to create your Video (search Google for 'SSMM'). You will get a good quality Vid (*.avi) with good effect's. Next record your sound & Encode both (Vid & Sound) together with TMPGEnc to VCD format; that's it.
