Everytime I start Pinnacle Studio 8.5 it tried to capture using my ATI card and save to my 'C' drive.
I'd like it to default to my Canopus ADVC-100 (DV) and save to my 'S' drive.
    is there any way?
I've checked the options/preferences but there's nothing there.
I know I can change it each time but it would be nice to have it auto.
Please, none of the 'Studio is shite, that's the reason you can't do it' posts, they're not welcome.
    Thanks,
    Will Hay

There's always one, unfortunately for me it's the site owner.

  6. Will Hay, try to go to "Setup" / "Capture Source". There is a small Folder Icon, right where you see "Data rate". Click on it and select your Default Directory. Let mo know if it worked, I am not sure if it will remain as default... I don't have my "real" system available right now.

I'll try it when I get home and report back, thanks.

    It almost worked.
It tried to find the ADVC-100 rather than the ATI but defaulted to drive C

    Just tried again...

...it's all defaulting to my S drive and the ADVC-100.
I did what you said and that fixed the default source issue...
...I've just clicked on this :-

....did a small capture, and closed it down.
Having just opened it it's defualted to the S drive
Clearly I needed to do a test capture to the drive I wanted as default before I closed it down.
I suppose the real test will be a reboot.
    Thanks donpedro

A reboot resulted in Studio defaulting back to the ATI and back to C

  13. OK Mister... I don't know what you are doing...

I just tested PS9 and set it to specific Directory in I: drive and rebooted and it is still pointing to I: drive.... I was satisfied with your previouse results so I didn't test PS8. But I will later tonight. It should work.... I think....

    Try these steps exactly again...

  14. Capture with Scenalyzer, not Studio. Use your Canopus AVDV-100
When you open Scenalyzer, point it to where you want the captured avi file to go. Make sure you check the option to "lock audio with video".

    http://scenalyzer.com/

    Use Studio for the rest.

BTW...Are you using your AVDV-100 for DV as well as analog? I use mine only for analog. All DV is via firewire from cam to computer. Why go thru the AVDV-100 for DV, it's just an extra step that can be avioded. But I love it for analog capture.

Where did you get the idea I was?
I'm using the ADVC-100 for analogue and capturing as DV, I use fireiwre directly for DV.

With all due respect, you're not helping.
I ask how to default a location with Studio, and you sugest Scenylser, which I've tried and tested before I bought Studio.
Then, you suggest I change the location of the capture each tme I open a program than I don't even use, when I want to try use a program I have open each time in the same location.
Then, you start a sentence with 'why go...' and tell me it's not a question, whilst at the same time question my ADVC-100 methods which is completely irrelevent to my topic.
Like I say, no offence, but I think it's me that should be using the
Please, let me get on with solving my little problem.
I can't believe I wasted three minutes on this, rest assured I won't respond to your inevitable response

Donpedro, it didn't work, and this time I didn't have to reboot.
I followed your suggestion exactly, but as I mentioned when I tried it before, did a test capture and then closed and re-opened it it was perfect.
It's the reboot of the machine that's resets the blummin' thing

  18. Will Hay, well I have to say it's acting funny... I installed PS8 again (version 8.1 or something like that). Here is what I did :

    1. Install
    2. Changed capture dir from C to I. Closed and Opened PS8. I was there.
    3. Re-booted. C was back.
    4. Changed capture dir from C to I plus changed location of Aux files. Closed and Opened PS8. I was there and Aux was new also.
    5. Re-booted. I was still there.

    What can I say....

PS : I have to add that I never captured anythink in this process. Just simple change and open "Capture" window.

    Thanks,

EDIT: Nope defaulted back to C, even without a reboot, nevermind, thanks anyway, I'll continue to change each time I capture.

It wouldn't help, I'm not stupid, I can read and perform simple instructions, even if I am a monkey in a zoo

I know, but trust me, knowing someone can do it and you can't when it should be soooooooo easy is a worse feeling than you not having a remote control for my PC with a 3000 mile cord attached to it
    Thanks anyway,
