Anyone have a sure-fire method for finding DVD's to be released?
I'm waiting for a couple to come out and searching google and the BBC prove fruitless.
Anyone know of a method/website in which you can determine if there are any plans to release a particular movie/TV series?
Thanks,
Will

What you after, Red Dwarf V, thats what I am waiting for.
-
you'll see it pop up on the BBFC website before it's announced, this is where BBC's teletext get all their DVD news from!
That's why about 18 months ago they said "Blakes 7 is coming out really really soon!!!!!!" -
Red Dwarf V yes, I do want it, but I know it's coming
It's 'The Detectives' I want.
They appear now and again on Sky and I have some on VHS but I've been waiting too long for them

I always look at amazon. If release plans are in the future, amazon usually gives the release date.
-
I do the same but usual look on play or soon
-
tgpo,
amazon; good idea, thanks.
Russ,
I know 'play', but 'soon'?tgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have. -
I can sign up for unreleased movies from netflix, when the release date is known the date is visable in a "waiting to be released" queue.
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress? -

take a peek here http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/index.cfm?frameset=deck01/deck_fs.html&page=dvd_interrogatio...me_050304.html
I can't say im sad to hear the movie has been delayed - i'm not sure if it's a good idea. i really disliked series 8, red dwarf has always been about the interaction of a few characters (think of an episode like marooned) so having all these people about "magicall" ruined it. as did the deck 13 prison thing, there was no reason for holly to not tell them. gah, it winds me up just thinking about that series!
a good film would maybe be "infinity welcomes careful drivers" "better than life" and "backwards" all back to back. i'm re-reading the books at the moment, and there's some brilliant bits - the two rimmers destroying the nova 5, rimmer killing all the skutters when trying to re-start the engines and kryten killing the toaster. and rimmer in the body of tracie la buche
Just not sure a film carrying on from series 8 would be very good..... -
Firstly, you're not wrong about the books.
The bigest laugh I ever got was on a plane to Amercia, when I had headphones on blissfully unaware how loud I was laughing at those books, and how much other poeple were laughing with me.
My wife had to tell me about five minutes after and when she did she got a pleasant moan from the passengers, I was rather entertaining apparently.
You should look up Colony, it's great, a cross between futurama and red dwarf and written by Rob Grant.
Yu've read last human, right?
More of a novel than Backwards and more funny, at least I think so.
Was Series 8 the one with the canaries?
If so, I really liked that one.
The one before (Dallas, etc) whilst superbly written was too 'glossy', and lost it's appeal somewhere, but still great when I look back.
I think my problem is I looki forward soooo much to them I vuild them up far too high, but now, on reflection, they've all been good (but I concurr, better around series three to six).
Legion episode, OMG!!!!!!!
Love it!!!!!!!!!!
The film is not carrying on from the series.
I don't know the plot, but I do know it's not a follow on

yeah, i've read last human too - didn't include it because backwards follows on from BTL wheras last human is just... different.
Funnily enough, housemate got bought colony for christmas so i will give it a read!
Yeah, series 8 had canaries and time sticks and dinosaurs.......
i just didn't like it because listers' driving force was getting home and finding another human. the relationship between rimmer and lister was what really did it for me - and just the feeling of isolation and loss. it all dies when a) rimmer leaves, b) a new crew "appear" c) a new but different rimmer aprears and d) they don't have free roam of the ship. garbage pod - amazing episode - but really really simple, but wouldn't work in series 8 because someone else would tell rimmer what it was. or confidence and paranoia, the "solid" hallucinations would be taken away by ship security and lister could get treated by a nurse instead of getting stabbed in the eye by a skutter!!! -
Yeah, you're right, it did change for the worse when Rimmer pissed off, never been the same I must admit.
Great stories but the chemistry is lacking a little; still a great show though.

Personally I though series 8 was pretty good. Love Krytie TV. series 7 was dire though.
Thinking about it, the previous poster is right, the film shouldn't carry on from series 8 though. It really should be set on the big Red with the usual four dwafers.
Love to see Talking Toaster have a major role though! -
This site is excellent, but is U.S. release dates and most of you seem to be over seas. Good reference though.
