  1. I have had trouble converting AVI to DVD, especially the sound. I can't encode sound with MainConcept and when I activate ffdshow, it can't encode at all. There is no problem with the movie itself without the sound.

    Can you see if there is any audio codec conflict here :

    It would be more helpful if you specified what kind of audio your avi is. I'm guessing it's mp3. When converting avi to mpeg it's always best to decompress the audio to wav. It's easier for mpeg encoders to recognize the audio this way. Here's what you can do:

    1. Open your avi with Goldwave and save as wav

    2. Download FFMPEG GUI and set it to create an mp2 file with 48000hz audio with a 224kpbs bitrate.

    3. Open TMPGEnc, go to File>MPEG Tools>Simple Multiplex. Use the mpeg you made with no sound as the video source, use the mp2 file you made with FFMPEG as the audio source and hit "run". The resulting mpeg should have sound.

    I realize this doesn't address any possible audio codec conflicts but it does provide you with a workaround.
