  1. i'm demoing DVD-lab right now and liking the program, but i tried to author a dvd by following the guides provided here and the help/tutorial page at DVD-lab, and when i go to my chapter select, all the chapters just put me back at the beginning of the movie. i made the menu using the wizard > add scene selection menus... so i know it's grabbing the right chapters, and personally re-linked every selection to the right chapter when it didn't work the first time, but no go.

does anyone know what could cause this problem? i'm very new at all of the dvd-authorizing stuff, so please talk in big words when asking questions or prescribing solutions.

BTW, i'm authoring this from an already authored dvd that didn't have menus. DVD-lab just joined the VOBs as one movie, and the chapters were added from there.

    thanks.

I had that happen recently when, after getting it all right, I shortened the movie (chopped of credits) so it would fit properly. All the chapter points where lost and all started at the start. I just got it to recreate them all (automatically) and it was ok.

may not be your problem but something to watchout for anyway.

  3. hmm.. i haven't had to cut anything from the original video, and have even tried to let DVD-lab put the auto chapters in, and still, no go. if anyone has seen this or has ideas to fix, please let me know.

BTW, i opened the VTS_01_0.IFO in ifoedit, and it does say that all chapters are at 00:00.00. can you manually enter the chapter starts in ifoedit? i couldn't find how to update the ifo within that program. forgive me, but i'm very new at this.

I think the problem is that the GOP timestamps within the m2v are all set to '0'.

When you import the m2v, does it say '0-GOP' or 'GOP-0' in the assets window for the video? If so, then do this:

In dvdlab there is GOP rewrite tool under the 'tools' menu. Ask dvdlab to rewrite the GOP timecodes and try the authchapter wizard again. You should see markers along the timeline showing the chapters.

That's it. DVD Lab get very confused with non-sequential timecodes
