  1. Hi,

I have about 3 hours of home movies (film) converted onto video tape.
I want to keep the quality reasonably high (keeping in mind that the source is VHS tape), so I was thinking about capturing them at a Bitrate around 4000-5000 bps at a resolution of 352x480 and then authoring them to a folder on my hard drive. From there I figured I would use DVDshrink to sample down to fit onto one disk.
Is this a good method for over-all quality or would it be better to capture at a lower bitrate and not need to use DVDShrink?

    Thanks.

  2. You would be better off getting it right the first time with your re-encoding. DVD Shrink is not magic. It lowers your bitrate just like a reencoder, but not as well. Do some calculations and get the size you want on the first time.
