  1. I got a couple Hi8 tapes from some one else (I didn't tape them) to convert to DVD, but when I play them on my Hi8, they are nothing but static. Why would this be? Hopefully it's not as horrible as they are recorded in PAL. They were shot in Florida - they don't do PAL to my knowledge

  2. I believe hi8 tapes can be used for analog and digital that i know of with some sony camers. It's possible the video is in one format and your camer uses the other. my sony hi8 recordes in analog but I have friends that have the digital 8 Sony and they use the same style tape (hi8). Or it's possible the tapes just got erased. Maybe while traveling through an airport. Just a few guessed hope it helps.

  3. so, you're saying you can record on (and play i'm guessing) hi8 with a digital8 camera? i'm looking into what camera the guy used to tape.

    sounds like it was digital8 - they can use the same tapes ..
