  1. I got got a nice new computer running a Pioneer DVR-106D which burnt movies fine but I got pissed off with only havng athe one drive as I was used to having 2, so I got a Samsung 352B DVD-ROM and CDRW, what do you know upon installation windows XP changes the name of the pioneer to SIO_UOW GVVڤڤWvddW_-356F which kind of still resembles the original PIONEER at the start. Neither dirve works when they are both connected but if I remove the Samsung and keep the Pioneer at the Termination plug the it works swell and gets its propper name back.

    Please Help

  2. Does the Samsung drive work by itself? It could be faulty. And make sure the jumpers are set correctly. Sometimes cable select doesn't work on some systems. Setting master and slave on the drives might help.
Do you remember when TMPGEnc needed an English patch?

  3. What Meteor said, good place to start. Also, have you checked Samsung support? Firmware available there for your model, I just checked. It's not uncommon with a new computer to have to immediately upgrade the firmware for an optical drive. And particularly since it didn't come with your computer, well, worth a try.

Hey Meteor, yeah I remember, still use it. Who needs a wizard anyway?
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  4. I tested the Samsung drive and what do you know, it works, BUT I also found that there was still another drive there so I uninstalled Alcohol 120% (Which shouldn't have been emulating anyway) and it was still there so I have come to the conclusion that as I had Daemon tools before Alcohol120 I uninstalled it (Daemon) when I got alcohol. But it musn't have uninstalled right as I am still finding files. I tried reinstalling in then uninstalling it again but it says that the drivers are already in use an di must choose a new name for them.

    Any suggestions?

  5. well I have cmanaged to completely get rid of everything to do with alcohol 120% and Daemon tools sucessfully, BUT I still ge tthe same hardware problem, I have come to the apiffiny that the strange name for the drive when they are both plugged in is a combonation of the pioneer and Samsung with random letters, also another thing, when I right click - Eject, both drives open.

  6. Sounds to me like you've got both drives set as master or slave, istead of 1 of each.

Does your bios recognise the drives correctly?
RealaT Bytes, but that's what life is.
