  1. I have a Mintek DVD-1600 player (USA), it's the newer version which has a different faceplate & doesn't list VCD as a compatible format on the player even though it plays them.

My problem is that i want to hook it up through my VCR, but when i do, the macrovision protection kicks in & nothing looks right. The TV i want to hook it up to is an older one, an old Curtis Mathis console set & for some reason, i have not been able to find an RF Modulator that works properly with it dispite buying about seven of them. I'm guessing due to the TV's age. However, the player works fine when connected through the VCR, except the macrovision, of course & i don't get the same trouble with VCD's at all, they play fine.

I have searched for hacks on this site & have found that the players of this model with the newer faceplates cannot have their macrovision protection deactivated the same way the older model can - via hack.

    My question (finally) is this...

Is there some sort of device i can buy that will allow me to hook my DVD player to my VCR without running into the macrovision problem? Also, am i correct when i assume that there has been no hack developed for the newer version?

  2. Do a search in Yahoo! Shopping for "video stabilizer" or "digital video stabilizer" and you should find something suitable in the $30 range. I bought one of those little black boxes about 3 years ago for around $25 and had no trouble backing up or playing my DVDs through my VCR.
