  1. Can somebody help please.Ive installed a secondary harddrive,just as storage.Its a Hitachi 120gb.When i re-started the pc windows brought up the new hardware found icon, then installed it.I can go to hardware device in system manager and it shows this device is working properly.But when i go to my computer to check its there nothing.How can i get this new drive to show in my computer so that i can format it and start to use it?.

    Is the drive set up properly as master or slave (or cs - cable select)? If it's the second HD on the primary cable with your C: drive, you have to set the jumper on it to "slave" (the C: drive is master).

  3. Dont know if this is right but i have it set up like this
    primary master-first hardrive(working properly)
    primary slave-dvd rom(working properly)
    secondary master-second harddrive(not showing)
    secondary slave-dvd rw(working properly)
    Is this right or not?.
    Windows is saying its working properly its just not showing up

    That sounds correct, but you could also try moving it to be the secondary slave on the same cable with your first HD ( and move the jumper to slave ). When you say it doesn't show up, do you mean in Windows Explorer, it's not there? What about your boot-up screen? It should show up there when you first start the computer, for a second or two. Can you see it in BIOS?

  6. You need to initialize the drive.

    Right click on my computer and select Manage.
    Double click on Storage then Disk Management.
    Find the new drive in the table below and right click on it and set it up.

  7. Thanks for the help roundabout.I have it showing now.I posted the same question on a couple of forums and somebody said:
    Right click on My Computer>Manage
    Disk Managemant
    I messed about with the settings in there as the harddrive was showing as offline.
    Anyway its showing and formatting
    So thanks again for the help
