  1. Not sure if this is possible or not. I can tape anyhting from my VCR to my sony minidv camera. Also I can transfer and capture anyhting from my minidv camera to my laptop with no problem.
Is there away to transfer back the edited video from my pc to the mini DV camera?

  2. Just a few thoughts to get started..

"Not sure if this is possible or not. I can tape anyhting from my VCR to my sony minidv camera. "

Not sure which Sony you have or which VCR. This should be possible to play something on your VCR and record it via cables on your camcorder (assumes same format, e.g. ntsc / pal, etc.). 'Anything' is subjective - copy protection may prevent some copies.

"Also I can transfer and capture anyhting from my minidv camera to my laptop with no problem. "

A big 'it depends.' Assume you would want to do this in digital format, so you will need a pcmcia firewire card. Then, it depends on all the specs of your laptop.

"Is there away to transfer back the edited video from my pc to the mini DV camera?"

Yes, different s/w packages will support this assuming your camcorder has the right inputs.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks. I have sony DCR-PC9 miniDV.
As I said, I can do just about anyhting with this camera.
I can hook it up to my sony VCR and TO and FROM the VCR.
Also, I can transfer all my mini DV tapes to my laptop with firewire.
I edit my videos on my computer and what I want to do is to transfer them back to my mini tape. I can't figure out how to do this.
As I said, this camera has a feature that allows it to record from a vcr or tv to the mini tape.
    Thanks

You need a Video card that has video out (RCA or S out) in your PC. Connect the video signal and sound from your PC to your Sony, done.

dont do this. you can send the video back to the camera via firewire. many programs will allow you to do this. check the tools section to the left and you will find one. i would recommend trying dvio. just load your dv avi file and then hit "send video to camera". many other programs can do this, like adobe premiere.

  6. Yes, definitely use the firewire connection- otherwise you've defeated the whole point of going digital with your camera. I like WinDV, another small program like dvio. In the larger packages this function is sometimes referred to as "print to tape".
