  1. I am having trouble burning some files of mine. I have all different files like asf, mpeg, and avi's. I do not have to convert those because nero does it for you. Anyway all the files (about 25 video files) total about 4 gigabytes. Why wont these fit on a dvd-r?

What is the total in bytes? You can store 4,700,000,000 bytes on a DVD-R but only 4.38 Gigabytes, since a gigabyte is a little more than 1,073 million bytes. Right-click the files and get the properties for all the files and add up the size in bytes.

Do these files add up tp 4 gigs after nero encodes them?Encoding will usually increase the size of avi files which are generally smaller than the mpg equivalent.Use dvdshrink for the authored files that are too big.

To burn mpg files onto dvd they need to be authored, this means they are turned into dvd files by an authoring program such as tmpgenc dvd author or nerovision which then can be burned to dvdr and played on your dvd player, you should read more on this cause it will greatly help you understand what is going on.

  9. I have one question about Nero. I have Nero 6 and latest updates. But when I go to burn DVD I have only possibility to burn at 2.4X (media is 1-4x compatibile). If I wont to burn with the highest possible speed it goes also to 2.4x. What can I do and if nothing, is there any loos in quality by 2.4 (media 1-4x)???

You should look for the latest firmware for your dvd writer because this will give your writer updated info on more brands of dvdr and then you might be able to burn the media at 4x.There wont be any loss and the burn might be better at 2.4x.

  11. Thanks, but I think it isn't problem with my writer. Because with Studio 8 I can burn at 4X!
