  1. Hi,

I am having a problem with svcd2dvd. I have many movies backed up on cd-r's. First I rip the mpg file using isobuster by choosing the extract but filter option. It rips the mpg file no problem, but when I go to join them and create s dvd SVCD2DVD freezes when it gets to multiplexing elementary streams. I tried every cd-r I have I get the same results. Is there a fix for this? BTW I use the default settings. Is there another program I can use to join 2-3 mpg files and burn on dvd? This program works flawlessly on my bin/cue files.

I prefer vcdeasy to extract mpegs from cd's. It gets it right all the time. I get the same problem you describe sometimes with bin files. Looks like vcdgear is'nt up to it. Anyway, why join the files? If the mpegs are cut precise it will play seamless on your standalone. There's also a possible problem with audio synch when joining.

  5. I can get it to work If I use nero, or any other dvd creator. I just hate to wait for ever. Sometimes it takes 4 hours to do 1 dvd. I have hundreds of vcd I want to transfer. I will try vcdeasy. What does it do? Extracts the mpg file out of the cd-r? Is it fast and better than isobuster?

    THANKS.

Yep, it extracts the mpg file out of the s()vcd. You could also try to change the ripper in svcd2dvd from vcdgear to vcdxrip. 4 hours to do a dvd?! At most it takes 1 hour for me, normally 40 minutes. First of all it's very important that you run defrag now and then.(Diskeeper is very fast) Because if your harddisk is heavily fragmented you could end up with 4 hours to make a dvd just because of that reason.
Secondly try all the fastests options in svcd2dvd if you have'nt already done so. Then it's your capacity of your harddisks. If you have ata 100 you should have like 40-50 MB/s in Nero speed test. An empty harddisk is the ideal, of course. It's about 30% faster than a half full defragged one.

  7. yes my pc is very tweaked, I defrag every 2 days. I am using a maxtor 120 gig hd 7200 with a 8 m cache. So I know thats not the problem. I use nero smart and add custom audio and video, as well as new menu's That what takes so long.
