Will DVD 352X480 play on external DVD Players hooked up to a TV, or must it be standard DVD specs only?

  2. Perhaps I am not understanding what you are asking...352x480 is a standard DVD resolution for NTSC so I would say Yes
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

Thank you both. I know 352X480 is a standard, but I would not assume, apriori, that it would necessarily work on a stand-alone player. Now, I know

Just beware that although 352x480 will play on a stand alone DVD player it must be 4:3 ratio as a stand alone DVD player will not resize a 16x9 anamorphic DVD witha resolution of 352x480

That only works as it should when you use 720x480 and I think 704x480

These are of course NTSC resolutions.

Same applies to PAL although it uses 576 instead of 480 for the height

    P.S.
You can make 352x480 16x9 anamorphic if you want but it will only look proper on a 16x9 TV (or a 4:3 TV that has a 16x9 mode).
