  1. Hey all!

I wanted to do some backing up of my store-bought DVDs on the weekend, and I ran into a problem.

I've been using my DMR-E50 to make copies of the stuff I own to watch so that I don't ruin the originals. Many of the originals are on tape, so there's a problem there too in that VCRs are becoming obsolete.

However, I ran into a 'this material is copyrighted' warning, and the player wouldn't record! I have an Optex Video stabilizer that has worked for killing Macrovision and allowing me to back up tapes, but it didn't work on the DVD!

    What is up with that?

I also tried putting the original to an SP tape, and then transferring it back over. I used the OPTEX to tape the DVD, and it worked fine, but when I went to record the tape to my E50, I STILL got the warning!

Is there a better stabilizer out there?

If the majority of you have left to back up are DVD's....your better off buying a DVD Burner for your computer.
If you have alot of VHS tapes that are not released to DVD....then a better stabilizer is probably the best way to go.

I say this because the best one I have ever used for removing macrovision is one called Max's Video Filter. His full name is Max Zorilla and he is from Florida. The "Video Filter" is well over $100 but it is a VERY impressive little gadget. I have one back home in the U.S. that my family there still uses occasionally. I used it for VHS and DVD's and works perfectly for both. I have a Philips DVDR985.

Do a google search and you'll most likely find a link to his web site....if I find it I will post it here as well....search here too...someone may have posted it already.

    Found it...here is the link:
