  1. I combined two one hour documentaries into one VIDEO_TS folder using the Join feature in DVD2oneX. When I play the folder with DVD Player, I can skip through the chapters in the first title, but I can't access the second documentary until the last chapter (the end credits) of the first are compleated. Then the second begins and I can again move forward using the chapter markers (which start again with number one).

When I first ripped the two diskcs, I selected Main Feature only in MacTheRipper, since I didn't want menues. I'm not sure what DVD2oneX would have done combining two complete disks. Is this the correct way to do this? And is the result what I should expect? That is, should the second title not be accesable until the first is completed?

  2. Yes your results are expected. You did everything correctly. When using the Advanced Navigation option, you get exactly what you described. From the DVD2One Website:

    Advanced Navigation Mode
This new feature is experimental and may not work correctly with specific dvd players, or may have some unwanted side effects. It is recommended to try it first with a rewritable disk. It adds the following ways to navigate between the different titlesets:

    Right menubutton for next titleset.
    Left menubutton for previous titleset.
Next chapter at the last chapter of a title goes to the next titleset.
Previous chapter at the first chapter of a title goes to the previous titleset.

i believe they are added as title sets
if your remote has a "title" button, then just advance to the next title where the 2nd movie should start to play

  4. Thanks for the confirmation. I had only been looking at the VIDEO_TS folder via DVD Player. Once I burned the disk and put it into my DVD player, I was able to skip through the chapters of the first title and access the second title and its chapters. My remote lacks a Title button. I wonder why DVD Player doesn't enable title controls, and if there is a DVD Player subsitiute that will. Perhaps VLC?

  5. Apple DVD player does have a Title button on the control panel, but it doesn't make it jump to the next title. The title button makes the player try to access the Menu of the current title. At least that's how it works on my computer (OS X 10.3.3)

  6. Also, if you read my previous post, using the left and right menu buttons will allow you to jump to the next titleset instantly if you checked off the "Advanced Navigation" option in DVD2OneX

Will, I started a thread about this exact problem a few months back. The problem was that I had forgotten to select 'seamless'. Once I did that I could forward through the entire disc's chapters, and not have to wait for the last chapter of the first disc to finish.

  8. That was my problem. I didn't select semless. BUT I am able to skip to the first chapter of the second title on my Panasonic DVD player. But not on the Apple DVD Player app. I always use DVD PLayer to test a created VIDO_TS folder before burning, and assumed it was an accurate display of what I would get on my TV screen.
