Hi,
I have 3 videocapture devices. One is an old Iomega Buzz Multimedia "box" (has an internal proprietary SCSI controller with an external box to plug things into), a Dazzle DVC-USB (not the 80 or 100 or 150) and a Winfast xp2000 tv tuner card. i was given the first two and bought the tv tuner for obvious reasons. I am trying to convert Videotapes into VCD format. I want good quality but I am not a gourmet The Buzz does a raw data conversion and needs hours of work after the conversion. The Dazzle box, as much maligned as other models (i.e. 80, 100, 150) are, did a pretty good job the first few times I used it - a year ago - but now when i try to install it, the sofware insists that I am missing "msjet4x.dll". I tried to assure the computer that the file was there - I even offered to set the computer up with a nice handsome P4, but it wouldn't believe me I have an ASUS MB with a 1.2 Duron on it now - hope to upgrade to a 2400 or more AMD XP in a couple of months, 256 MB of RAM and 200 GB of hard drives, with win 98se. My questions:

1. Can I get different software for the Dazzle? I look on Dazzle's (now Pinnacle's) website and they keep insisting my product came with a program called "Moviestar", which it did not. It came with a program called Dazzle's DVC creator internet edition version 3.6, which worked pretty well - when it worked. About 30% of the time I had to reboot my system after the first attempt to use it. I was looking on your site and others and there are several freeware programs to use for videocapture but I don' t know enough about the device to know which kind of program I need.

2. Which device (of the three) do you think will give me the best results - also needing the least amount of trouble?

Thanks for any help you can provide. Also thanks for some great tutorials. Sometimes I feel after I read your website that I am working on getting a Ph. D.

Tom
