After attempting to upgrade to the new release of ATI software, I lost my ability to record audio during capture. I can hear it while recording, but no volume on playback with any of the DVD players. (Video is perfect)

Compaq 2.6 gig processor 528K ram 260 gigs of fast HD
    WIndows XP (current)

What ATI driver should I focus on?

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Deleted everything and tried going back to 8.1. No audio

    Hint:
I may have loaded the wrong drivers at the initial upgrade.
I think I now have the right drivers downloaded. I think!

    Frustrated

  2. I have the same card as you and had the same problem. Mine turned out to be a problem with the Sound Blaster Live! sound card I was using. When I upgraded to XP OS was when the problem started. It seems the drivers for Win2k and XP never worked right on this SB card. It tended to 'mute' the 'Line Input' when capturing. You didn't indicate which sound card you use (why should you?) but this might be looked into. I guess they might label this a 'driver conflict'. My problem was corrected by replacing the sound card, you can check this out by looking at the audio properties to see if anything is muted.
If it works, don't fix it.

I just tried to update my ATI stuff, it jacked up everything, audio, tuner, drivers, etc.

Uninstall everything ATI and go back to something from mid last year for best results, ATI MMC 8.1 8.7 timeframes

Haven't done mine yet, not using it at the moment anyway.

    Thanks for the replys.

After trying (never successfully) to delete 8.9, I went back to the old standby fix .... Reformatting my hard drive and performing a full re-install.
I Rolled the dice again by tring to load 8.9, and it worked like a champ.

It was frustrating but it forced me to do something I needed to do anyway. Now it I have a nice clean XP Image.

BTW: I can't tell any difference in the new version.
