To install the divx codec, go to divx.com and download the free QuickTime component. Use the package file to give DivX/XviD/MPEG-4 ASP playback capability to QuickTime Player.
For playback of DivX files with AC3 audio you may also want to install the A52Codec.

  4. Make sure You have installed latest DivX [Universal binary - PPC/Intel], 3ViX and A52 /AC3/ [PPC/Intel] components for QuickTime...There is also XviD QT component [PPC/Intel] which could be helpfull...And finally there is new component for QuickTime called Perian [Universal binary - PPC/Intel] which should make obsolete all the previously mentioned codecs.
