  1. is there another encoder Beside TMPGEnc that can encode more reliably...i tried older version and it still crashes or takes hours upon hours...maybe even a new settng that can trim it down to a workable process...any help is greatly appreciated

    Try a bit more info next time... ie what format are you converting from and to. What type of software you looking for freeware shareware or commercial... third specs on your machine. But if you are converting to asf try Sonic Foundry Stream Anywhere ... there's a really good guide to converting with it on this site !
